NOT a registered charity

Cause It's Me

Not a charity. Just one specific person, asking the internet for money: me.

Donate to the cause

*Not registered. Not a charity. Not tax-deductible. Definitely a person.

Every great cause needs a face. This one has mine.

Your generous donation goes directly toward critical infrastructure: my mortgage, my groceries, and the occasional emboldening oat-milk latte.

No overhead. No middlemen. No board of directors quietly judging me. Just you, me, and a Stripe checkout page.

What's in it for you?

Donate above a certain amount and I will, within reason, do a nice thing:

And honestly? Whatever you ask for, within reason, I'll genuinely try to make it happen. A custom shout-out, a terrible poem, a hand-drawn doodle... ask away. No promises about the moon.

The Wall of Wonderful People

Immortalized forever, or until I forget to pay the hosting bill.

No donors yet. You could be the founding legend.

The whole story, such as it is

There's no foundation behind this. No gala, no silent auction, no oversized novelty cheque. Cause It's Me is exactly what it looks like: one specific person in Winnipeg, asking the internet for money.

I built a donation page for myself the way a real charity builds one for a cause — except the cause is my mortgage, my groceries, and the occasional oat-milk latte that convinces me I have my life together.

It's half joke, half experiment: what happens when you drop the pretense, admit you're not a registered charity, and just ask? Maybe nothing. Maybe you become a founding legend on the wall above. Either way, you got a story out of it.

Questions you might reasonably have

Is this a registered charity?

No. Cause It's Me is not a registered charity, not a non-profit, and not affiliated with any charitable organization. It is one specific person asking the internet for money. Donations are voluntary personal gifts.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

No. Because this is not a registered charity, donations are not tax-deductible and you will not receive a charitable tax receipt.

Where does the money actually go?

Straight into one person's very ordinary life: the mortgage, the groceries, and the occasional oat-milk latte. No overhead, no middlemen, no board of directors.

Can I get a refund?

Donations are voluntary gifts and are generally final, but I am a reasonable human. If you donated by mistake or change your mind, email hello@causeitsme.com and I will sort out a refund.

Is my payment information safe?

Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never seen or stored by this site.

Will my name and message be public?

If you enter a display name and message, they appear on the public donor wall along with the amount. Prefer to stay private? Tick "Keep me anonymous" and you will show up as Anonymous Benefactor.

Do I actually get the perks?

Within reason, yes. Higher donations unlock a thank-you email, a mailed postcard, or a custom request. Perks are fulfilled by one real human, so they are discretionary and not guaranteed, but I genuinely try.

Can I donate with Bitcoin?

Sure. Send BTC to the address below (or scan the code). No perks or donor-wall entry for crypto — it's just a direct tip.
